Bringing Back the Arts

Congratulations to our Dora Moore Students that participated in the First Lady of Denver’s 1st annual Bringing Back the Arts Visual Arts Contest held at space Gallery on May 3rd. Students created both 2D and 3D works of art that reflected the idea of how “We Are All Denver”.  Middle school students, Shelby Williams and Rose Smith won 1st place in the juried middle school 3D division. DPS families and community members also had the opportunity to cast their vote and be a part of selecting 20 works of art for the “People’s Choice” awards, which will be showcased at several notable Denver locations over a six month period.  Several Dora Moore Students earned this distinguished award too.  Congratulations to Cassandra Zamora, Quincy Johnson, Zachary Herdon, Georgia Eberhart and Ruby Nelson for their hard work and great accomplishment!

Mile High Scholars

On April 24, some of the top students in the school were recognized by Mile Hi Scholars, a great accomplishment for these individuals. Congratulations to Dania Jasim, Cassandra Zamora, Hla Nge, and Jake Punch.

Keep Denver Beautiful Poster Contest

Congratulations to Angelo Trujillo, Kevin Palacio and Annie Hood for receiving 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Keep Denver Beautiful Poster Contest , middle school division.

An awards presentation was held for all the poster and essay winners on April 18, 2013 at the Denver Public Works Department. The keynote speaker for the evening, Mary Louise Lee, Denver’s First Lady, talked to students about the importance of a clean city and celebrated the artistic accomplishments of these DPS students. Each student received a medal, certificate and framed copy of their poster. We are very proud of their hard work and accomplishments.

Sock Hop!

Its time for our Spring Sock Hop! Please come and join us on Friday April 12th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Admission fee is $5 per family, which includes 10 tickets.  Additional tickets are 50 cents per ticket. Carnival games will be open from 5:30pm – 7:00pm
We are asking parents to volunteer for a shift during the event.  Each volunteer will get 10 free tickets that can be used for prizes,   games and face painting!  To sign up click here.

Art Show

Dora Moore First Friday art show is this Friday at Anthology Fine Art located at 635 Santa Fe Drive from  3-9 pm.  Students in all grades will have work on display and for sale. Students who sell art work will receive a portion of the money and so will our school.  We hope everyone will join us for this fun and exciting event! We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday!

TCAP Testing Beginning

Grades 3 to 8 will be doing TCAP testing from Tuesday March 12th, to Friday March 22nd.
During this time please do not make appointments because we cannot interrupt classes to call for students to be dismissed early.  Make sure your child is on time.  Once testing starts for the day, late students will have to sit in the office until the end of the test, and then make it up another day.

Valentines Day Concert

Dora Moore’s Middle School Vocal Music Class cordially invites you to our first annual, “Let Me Sing You a Love Song Concert”.  All Proceeds go to funding musical opportunities for the students at Dora Moore.  Suggested donation, $5.  Dessert will be provided by Fleur’s Beloved Bakery.

Winter Break
